A new cookbook by nationally revered chef James Mussak features Filipino-Australian boxer-turned-chef Marx Canoy.

On 15 August, James Mussak, authors of various cookbooks under the 'Great Chefs of Australia' series, officially launched his latest cookbook 'Great Chefs of Australia: Menus - When Only The Best Will Do'.

The launch was held in Sydney at the iconic Sydney Masonic Theatre where over 100 guests, including other famous chef and culinary celebrities came to show their support.

Among the supporters from the Filipino community were Philippine Consul General Anne Jalando-on Louis, People of Australia Ambassador Cen Amores, recent Global Heroes or 'Bayanihan' awardee Ruben Amores from KCL, and highly-respected nutritionist, cookbook author, chef and community leader, Neria Soliman.

Also in attendance was Marx Canoy's cookbook consultant and community leader, president of the Global Ilocanos of Australia, Dr. Jimmy Lopez, and cookbook editor Michelle Baltazar (this writer).

Canoy said that the evening was a fantastic celebration of the diversity of cooking in Australia and, of course, James Mussak. "He's a great supporter of my new book, Food Feast, and it's my honour to be here to support him in his book launch," said Canoy.

Mussak also invited a couple of luminaries - Margaret Fulton, an Australian icon who displayed her wonderful sense of humour during her speech where she talked about Mussak, and Hideo Dukura, another master in the kitchen who also published an Encyclopedia of Japanese Cuisine.

From goodie bags to tastings of ice cream and coffee, plus an entry to the adjoining Whiskey Exhibition, Mussak's cookbook launch was a success. For more information on his book featuring Canoy, representing Filipino-Australian cuisine, go to http://www.greatchefsofaustralia.com/.
