Two of the Philippines’ most vocally gifted artists, Angeline Quinto and Jovit Baldivino, make history by becoming the first Filipino artists to headline a show at The Concourse.

The award-winning concert hall in Chatswood played host to last Saturday’s performance by visiting Filipino celebrities, Angeline Quinto and Jovit Baldivino.

Both found fame by joining high-profile singing competitions shown on national television which earnt Angeline the title, the First Female Pop Superstar, and Jovit, the Pinoy Rock Prince.

While last night’s second and final show at Rooty Hill RSL Club was sold out, the Chatswood performance was to a much smaller audience, but those who came certainly got their money’s worth.

Angeline, beautifully dressed in a sexy black ensemble, then changing to a hot-pink dress, sang songs popularised by other Filipino divas, including those of Asia’s songbird, Regine Velasquez, and megastar Sharon Cuneta.

Her voice is also familiar to the millions of Filipinos around the world who avidly watch The Filipino Channel (TFC), having sung many of the soundtracks for ABS-CBN television dramas and films.

“Nabibingi na ba kayo?” (Are you going deaf?), she joked, referring to a song list  that consisted of one belter after the next (watch video below). She truly deserves the accolades she’s received about her vocal prowess not just from her fans but also from her peers.

Next on stage was Jovit, a YouTube singing sensation and the grand winner of the 2010 Pilipinas Got Talent. Like Angeline, Jovit also endeared himself to the audience with performances of his most popular songs, including his finale, ‘Faithfully’.

But the best part of the two coming together in one show was their duets. From a memorable rendition of Joey Albert’s ‘Tell Me’ to Aerosmith’s ‘Don’t Want to Miss A Thing’, the audience was certainly in the presence of great Filipino talent.

The shows were organised by Remi Biala and the Philippine-Australian Community Foundation, Inc for the benefit of the Philippine-Australian Cultural Centre in Schofields.

Called the Dream Tour Australia: PACF Grand Charity Concert 2012, Angeline and Jovit were ably supported by local acts and under the direction of musical director Marvin Querido, a noted record producer who has worked with other famous recording artists, including Lea Salonga, Martin Nievera and Sharon Cuneta.

By the end of the night, Angeline and Jovit proved once again that the Philippines is a hotbed of talent, where stars are born, nurtured and supported by their kababayans at home and abroad.

ARNEL =Steve Perry (Journey), no question about that his voice? is alderay perfect for Journey.JOVIT = Bon Jovi, I think His voice is more suitable for bon jovi's songs Bal Jovitwe alderay have arnel for journey so i think jovit should settle for bon jovi as his inspiration.and sing his songs more often.
