Fashion designer Bing Cristobal delighted the guests of his first fashion show in Australia with a Filipiniana collection that is full of stunning showstoppers.

There is a reason why fashion designer Bing Cristobal is nicknamed 'the magician' in his role as fashion stylist and wardrobe guru for TV network ABS-CBN. He certainly knows how to create magic onstage, wowing the audience at his first fashion show in Sydney last Friday night (October 25).

From stunning asymmetric to floor-length glittering gold Filipiniana, to black-and-nude evening gowns, and the uniquely Filipino sinamay collection, there were plenty of styles to choose from. The men, too, can upgrade their well-worn barongs and choose one from Bing's selection.

And in a special twist, MODA Filipina Sydney gave audience a chance to ask Bing questions about his designs in a special two-part Q&A portion at the start of the program.

Credit goes to the producers, FLAGCOM (Albert Prias and Charles Chan), and Pauline Peralta, for inviting Bing to Sydney, fresh off his success as the designer of the singkil costume worn by 2013 Miss World Megan Young.

Bing specialises in designing gowns for beauty queens and high-profile actors and actresses from the Philippines. And it shows: each of his creation had its own unique stamp about it - reflecting a mindset that when you're dressing a star, there better be some 'wow' factor.

For the men, the barong collection was stylish and modern, classic and understated - with attention on the embroidery, the style of the collar and the fabric (Bing used a variety, including the jusi or pineapple and fine silk).

It was a great evening, thanks to the entertainment, guest artists and the gorgeous Australian-Filipina models who graced the catwalk.

At a series of short interviews after the show (see below), Bing thanked his guests and said he plans to come again early next year in time for the Mardi Gras festival.
