Filipinas, the Philipine Women's National Football Team has made history in qualifying for the 2023 FIFA World Cup. The team has been in training in Sydney in preparation for its participation in this highest competition level in football.

As part of its training, Filipinas has played against the Fiji WNFT.  The team has won the two matches played on Thursday, April 7 (full time score - 7:2) and on Monday, April 11 (full time score - 0:8).

The much-awaited friendly match of ‘Filipinas’ vs Tonga is all set for Friday, April 22, 2022 after the cancellation of earlier planned matches due to travel issue for the Tongan team.  The game will be held at 5pm (Australian time) at the Western Sydney Wanderers Football Park in Blacktown.

Filipinas' supporters around the world will also be pleased to know that the game will also be livestreamed through the PWNT FB page

Before the 2023 FIFA World Cup, Filipinas will also be competing in the 31st South East Asia (SEA) Games to be held in Hanoi, Vietnam during May 12 to 23, 2022.  The competition was originally scheduled to be held from November 21 to December 2, 2021 but was postponed to the COVID 19 pandemic.   The team has a few more days of training in Sydney before it travels to Vietnam.

On April 19, 2022 Belay Fernando-Dela Cruz, head of PWNFT and Jaclyn Sawicki, Midfielder undertook a courtesy call at the Philippine Consulate General Sydney.  They were received by Acting Head of Post, Emmanuel Guzman and Consul Melanie Diano.  The Consular officials also assisted in having notarial services provided to them.
