It’s a new decade and though we’ve got all the computing apps we need to get organised, there is still something that pulls us back to the traditional ways of bringing in good energy to the coming year.

In the 10th century, the Chinese brought to the Philippine shores their trade as well as their culture and beliefs on how to attract good energy for their personal lives and wealth. We call it chi or energy.

Preferably, good chi is invited into everyone’s homes to stay there for the whole year beginning with the start of the Lunar Year or the Chinese New Year.

In Binondo, Manila, the Philippines’ Chinatown, and in Chinatowns all over the world, the Chinese New Year celebration is both lavish and ornate.

It celebrates the belief that if you begin the year with a bang, it will be carried on to the rest of the year – especially for people who belong to signs that are celestially endowed with good luck!

This event happens between January 21 to February 20 mainly because of the difference in calculation using the lunar calendar as compared to what we’re used to, which is the Gregorian Calendar.

For 2020, Chinese New Year falls on January 25. This will guide you through some of the tips that we’ve gathered for some of that good luck.

What follows is a compilation of information to guide you on how you can plan out your whole year. Take it with a pinch of salt, of course!

Key words for this year are OPPORTUNITIES, RELATIONSHIPS, PRODUCTIVITY. But aside from opportunities, unpredictable situations will also fill 2020. Like the clever rat, one must be ready to see them a mile away and prepare to make it favour your way – risks are not recommended and if you’re in the mood to live on the edge, do not put all your bet on one single card.

According to a number of sources, people born in the year of the Rat (1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, & 2020) will enjoy a favourable year in luck and especially in love. But do not be complacent or lazy because there still can be some annoying glitches in the force that will mess up your good luck so be vigilant.

Celebrities born on the year of the rat – Jude Law, Avril Lavigne, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Affleck, Katy Perry, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Milby & Marian Rivera.

This means that possibilities will happen based on your own personal efforts. There has to be more effort to pursue needs and make things happen. Whatever profits you get during this time should be saved and be alert for more chances in the future.

So as the old seers say, “forewarned is forearmed.” The most important thing is that you have a chance at a new year. Kung Hei Fat Choy!
