The PLDT-Smart Giga Hitters will be travelling to Australia next month to play four exhibition matches against select State volleyball teams across Perth.

Their final leg will be played in Sydney on Sunday June 9 at Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope Gardens. Doors open from 5pm.

The Giga Hitters play professionally in the Philippine SuperLiga and are owned by Smart Communications. The team is headed by legendary multi-titled former San Sebastian mentor Roger Gorayeb.

Head Coach Gorayeb has won 11 consecutive championships for the San Sebastian women’s team from 1986-1997, 22 women’s volleyball titles, 6 women’s beach volleyball and 11 junior’s volleyball titles. He previously served as the Philippine National Team SEA Games Head Coach as well as with the Ateneo Lady Eagles and Nu Lady Bulldogs college teams.

Team captain Aiko Urdas and Philippine National Team members Gretchel Saltones, Jasmine Nabor and Jerrili Malabanan will banner the Giga Hitters.

Other members include Czarina Grace Carandang, Marie Cayuna, Lizlee Ann Gata-Pantone, Katherine Villegas, Celine Domingo, Alyssa Eroa, Joyce Sta Rita and Angelica Macabalitao.

MS3Green tour director Marino Salinas said, “We are excited to bring the first-ever Philippine professional women’s team to Australia. They are exciting to watch, well coached, athletic and very competitive."
