Welcome to the fourth instalment of our series on taking care of your brows. So, you’ve learned how to measure your brows, properly shade them and find the right brow for your face shape. So in this article, we’ll try to give you some info on the procedures that you can do just in case you got excited and over-plucked your brows or there isn’t any to begin with.

Just keep in mind that those over drawn, ultra stylized, super pigmented almost cartoon Insta-brows (Instagram brows) are already so five minutes ago so choosing your beauty expert is key in getting to that ideal brow for you – complementing your face shape and not product heavy but invisibly groomed as if saying “… woke up like this..”

To achieve this more natural look we all know about the usual shaping techniques of plucking and tweezing, waxing ..sometimes micro-waxing and threading. But if you want to update the look of your brows because it will take a while before we discard thick brows which are representations of youth and good health, here are some possibilities for your consideration.  Thanks to Byrdie.com for the helpful tips and info.

  1. BROW TINTING makes your brow appear fuller especially if you have fine or transparent “baby” hairs which also provides dimension to your brows. This is the process of coloring the brow hair with a vegetable-based dye mixed with 3 percent peroxide to activate the solution and you can also include your lashes while you're at it.  This lasts only a few minutes so waiting is not an issue.

Another form of tinting is using BROW HENNA which also stains the skin underneath he brow hairs to create a look of fullness the only difference is henna is an age-old natural colouring derived from plants – a hair dye alternative activated by rose water. The process is longer and the results usually lasts up to 10 days on the skin and 6 weeks on the hair.

  1. BROW EXTENSIONS uses surgical-grade adhesive to affix the extensions on your natural brow hairs or directly to the skin – one by one. This process usually takes about an hour and refills are needed every two to four weeks but the end product is wonderfully natural! This process can fill in bare sports, re-populate your over plucked patches with brow hair and you can easily create the brow shape that you want.

  1. BROW LAMINATION is a treatment that relaxes and straightens the brow hair allowing the brow to be styled in a variety of different ways – sleek, straight, arched or even fluffy. It begins with the application of the perming solution to break down the bonds within the brows, step 2 happens by using a fixing solution to set and form the hairs into the new shape, then a brow serum is applied to restore moisture back into the brow and skin. This procedure can double up with brow tinting to provide the definition that you desire.

  1. MICROBLADING allows you to say goodbye to the old way of tattooing brows and all its horror stories. This modern form of brow tattooing is performed by creating defined, hair-like strokes in the brow using a needle and brow pigment ink. This approximately two-hour process inserts the pigments into the skin’s upper layers to alter the shape of the brows or make them appear thicker. It’s semi-permanent which allows you to further update your brow later on instead of just “living with it” and is a great option for ladies who had alopecia or have gone through chemotherapy. If needles make you uncomfortable, don’t fret because a numbing solution is applied beforehand to minimize the pain. But like normal tattoos, it also requires time to heal (around 4-6 weeks) but the effects are far longer (12 – 18 months) .. good enough to say good bye to those sparse and patchy brows, right?

All these procedures surprisingly provide visually well-groomed yet natural brows that will definitely update your look – knocking off years from your face and attracting more attention to your captivating eyes!
