NSW Premier Gladys Berjeklian announced today, October 30, 2020 that NSW has recorded one new case of locally acquired COVID, another six are in hotel quarantine. She appealed again for people in the Sydney south-western areas to be tested if they feel unwell and not to take for granted they could have been exposed to the virus and passing it on.

This follows cases a few days ago traced to Flip Out Prestons Indoor Trampoline Park, Jasmin's Lebanese Restaurant in Liverpool and at the F45 Gym in Camden Valley Way.

With regard to border closure, Ms Berjeklian also stated that:  "we hope to be able to announce in two weeks time when we can open the border to Victoria.  We would not want to shut the border a day longer than needed."

Two days ago, Ms Berjeklian issued strong words with regard to border closure.  She said: "Enough is enough.  It is time for states to open borders and pull their weight on hotel quarantine."

However, at today's media briefing, the Queensland Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk remained steadfast and announced that the Queensland border will be opened to residents of regional NSW but not to to those from the Sydney area and Victoria.  This is to take effect on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.  A permit to enter Queensland is still required from visitors from regional NSW.

Queensland Chief  Health Officer, Dr Jeannette Young also said that Queensland is still going for suppression, not eradication, but she is concerned about the unlinked cases in Sydney.

Victoria reported four new cases, but two of these were considered to be "weak cases".

Northern Territory, South Australia, and ACT are open to NSW residents, with Tasmania expected to soon open its border too.  A 50 km border on both sides of NSWand Victoria had been established in September 2020 but still a permit to be obtained for travel within the border region.
